Skye was much more serious than her brother Rokki, and
just a little shy. She was Kyota's full time playmate for most of her short life,
and the two girls got along extremely well, although Skye was definitely the dominant one of
the pair. Skye was a late bloomer, taking her time to develop the necessary substance.
She was maturing nicely and attended handling classes in preparation for beginning her show
career. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be.
Suddenly and unexpectedly, Skye was overcome by pyomaetra and
was gone. Only 2 1/2 years old, she had been the picture of health, vibrant and energetic,
happy and exuberant. She had gone into the play yard at 1:00 pm that fateful day, grabbing
her cookie and running off happily to play with her brother, Rokki. When I went to bring
her back to her run for her dinner at 4:00 pm, she could barely walk. I knew immediately what
was wrong, and picked her up in my arms and carried her to the van. It was only four hours
from the time she went into the play yard until she arrived at the vet's, but it was not
fast enough to save her. I have never seen a dog go downhill so quickly, and I hope to never
see it again. She was too young, too full of life, and it just was not right that she should
leave this world so soon. Wait for me, my sweetheart. I look forward to holding you once
more. |
